About

Our Lady’s High School, Effurun, was founded in 1960 and managed by the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostle. During the era of schools being taken by the state government, the name of the school was changed to Our Lady’s Model Secondary School. This remained till 2010 when all mission schools where returned by state government to their original owners. Our Lady’s High School, Effurun, was then returned to the Catholic Diocese of Warri and the original name was then restored. The new Our Lady’s High school took off in September, 2012, with 30 students in Junior Secondary School One (JSS 1). Presently, the school has a population of about 280 students, and it is managed by the Missionary Sisters of Jesus and Mary (MSJM), an indigenous congregation of the Catholic Diocese of Warri. Since the return of schools to the missions in 2010 and their taking off in 2012, Our Lady’s High School, Effurun, has witnessed tremendous development.
